“Performing with such an esteemed and thoughtful artist as Emile Nauomoff was a very special educational experience—you learn subtleties and nuances about performing that can’t be taught in words….I will also forever cherish the indelible memories made bonding with my fellow quartet mates in beautiful Paris. I can’t recommend the quartet fellowship more highly!”
~ Leslie Ashworth, viola (EAMA ‘23)

“The knowledge I learned at this festival has forever changed how I analyze pieces…EAMA helped me build lasting relationships with other musicians.”
~ Jordan Watt (EAMA ’24)
” Participating in the EAMA Summer Institute as a member of the resident string quartet was no doubt one of the best chamber music experiences I have had so far in my
career… We had the ultimate privilege of working with esteemed pianist Emile Naoumoff, and performing the Brahms Piano Quintet with him. What a dream! “
~ Danielle Greene, violin (EAMA ‘23)
“One coolest thing that I would be forever boasting about my whole life is that we performed the Ravel String Quartet in F major at La Schola Cantorum where it was premiered in 1904.”
~ I-Jou Yang (EAMA ’24)
The successful quartet will demonstrate openness to interpretation and experimentation as a key component of the residency is to work collaboratively with composers at the Institute. It is not necessary for the members of the quartet to have played before as an ensemble, but if accepted, all members must agree to attend the program as a group.
